There are lots of ways to get involved with our mission in the community! A listing of current employment and internship opportunities is provided below. Check back often for new openings! And remember...we always need volunteers! Volunteering is a wonderful way to get to know us better.

 

intern-pictureINTERNSHIP OPPORTUNTIES WITH MILWAUKEE ACHIEVER

Milwaukee Achiever Literacy Services, Inc. offers internships at one of our two Community Learner Centers located in Milwaukee or West Milwaukee. Students can gain hands-on experience in marketing/graphic design, development/fundraising, adult education, or administrative assistant duties.

INTERNSHIP ELIGIBILITY
Milwaukee Achiever Literacy Services, Inc. program is open to college students, recent graduates and members of the community. Members of minority groups are encouraged to apply.

PROGRAM DATES
Milwaukee Achiever’s internship program runs year round with new sessions beginning every four months.

Fall Term: September - December
Spring Term: January - May
Summer Term: June  - August
Individual start and end dates may vary.
Apply 1-2 months before the term begins.

HOURS
12-15 hours per week are recommended. Hours are scheduled during Milwaukee Achiever’s business hours (M-Th 8 am - 4:30 pm). Schedule is negotiable.

COMPENSATION / EARN COLLEGE CREDIT
All Milwaukee Achiever Literacy Services, Inc. internships are unpaid. Interns are considered volunteers.

College credits may be earned. Milwaukee Achiever Literacy Services, Inc. must have a formal arrangement with the university, and the student must have a faculty sponsor. Priority is given to Alverno College, Mount Mary College or Cardinal Stritch University students.

TO APPLY

2. Complete the following survey questions:

indent1     Describe why you want to be an intern at Milwaukee Achiever Literacy Services, Inc. and how an internship would help you to achieve your career goals.
indent1     Describe any skills or other internship related qualifications that would support your application.
indent1     What skills do you wish to learn or enhance during your internship?

3. Send your cover letter, resume, and (2) letters of recommendation. 
4. Include any supporting materials. 
5. Send application and materials to:

AFTER YOU APPLY

Milwaukee Achiever Literacy Services, Inc. staff will review applications and accompanying documentation. If Milwaukee Achiever Literacy Services, Inc. is interested in interviewing you for an internship, the intern supervisor will contact you directly.  Applicants who are not initially selected may apply again for the following term.
