Milwaukee's "Silent Crisis": Tracy Loken Weber Interviewed on WUWM!
Make sure you check out the interview that WUWM's Stephanie Lecci conducted with our very own Tracy Loken Weber on Lake Effect. Tracy was interviewed as one of The Business Journal's Forty Under 40 awardees, and she discusses the challenges that our city's adult learners face...and how this adds up to a problem of crisis proportions at the national level. Tracy also discusses all the awesome work that Milwaukee Achiever is doing to reverse the tide of unemployment and illiteracy.
Meet Our New Look!
Yup, we're rebranding a bit over here at Milwaukee Achiever. With our 30th Anniversary on the way, we decided we need a logo that really speaks on a visual level to our impact in the community. Our new image aims to demonstrate the striving and achievement that all of our clients embody. The shaded bars in the background are a nod to our city as well as a symbol of all of the different learning levels that we celebrate and nurture in our programs. And of course, the foundation for all achievements is Real Learning, represented by the open book. We hope you like our new logo as much as we do!
Friday, March 2 Is Read Across America Day!
Read Across America is a project of the National Education Association and aims to engage readers of all ages in the importance of learning and family-supported education. This year, the "read" of choice is Dr. Seuss' "The Lorax," but we can read anything for Read Across America Day! How will you help build a nation of readers? Share your thoughts and view a really nifty interactive map of RAA Day participants at: http://www.readacrossamerica.org/
